Women’s Institute – Fantastic News!!

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Hello everyone!! Well I am writing to you all using very tired hands.. we have arrived home from our first every Fair in London’s Islington. A fantastic and successful day for us here at Lucy Loves Fabric. Lots of things have been removed from the website that were sold in high volume, buttons and lace being favourites. We do however still have some fantastic pieces in stock that will be going on the website ASAP.

BUT my friends… this isn’t what I have popped by to chat to you all about. All photos and details of the fair will be talked about tomorrow.

I have news that I just couldn’t wait to share before then. Some of you are aware that the week before last I had an audition with the prestigious – Women’s Institute (and very lovely ladies they were too). We auditioned for a place on the ‘panel of speakers’ list within the Institute, where institutes around the East London and Essex area can call on us to come along and talk to them for around half an hour, do a bit of a presentation. Teach them, learn from them – generally all enjoy ourselves together.

I was thrilled after a rather daunting talk to 60 wonderful ladies to find out on Saturday that I had passed my audition and will take my place on the panel.

This is a great honour for Lucy Loves Fabric and a great achievement for myself. I thank you – Ladies of the W.I. :) I look forward to seeing you again soon..

Goodnight everyone, I hope you all had fantastic weekends.

A new fabric available

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Hi Everyone

We have another fabric available by the talented Erin McMorris. It is from the Wildwood collection and it’s Pressed Leaves in Green. Check it out…

EM10Green

Nice huh… we ordered it a while ago from Rowan. But it’s only just come into stock, so it’s clearly been popular.

It has a wonderful retro feel… teamed with another of Erin’s fabrics like the below would be a fab combo…

EM19Olive

EM10Green

What do you think??? Like them together??? We do… I think they would look fab for interiors. Very Autumnal too.

Check both pieces out here…

And don’t forget, if you want us to run something up for you – just let us know.

Designer stock available now by the metre.

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Hello!!

The time has finally come when our designer fabric is available by the metre. Goodness, that took longer than I thought. And there is still more to come!!! We still have Erin McMorris ‘Park Slope’ to come, along with Heather Bailey ‘Bijoux’ and ‘Pop Garden’. But we still have enough to get your creative juices going for now…

We have….

Amy Butler…

AB23Tan1

AB40Navy

Tanya Whelan…

TW20Pink

TW21Fuchsia

Anna Maria Horner…

AH20Ink

AH26Chocolate

Christmas Fabrics….( Did someone mention Christmas???)….

DF43Green

DF47White

Kaffe Fassett…

GP71Iris

GP100Grey

Now that is just a TASTE of each designer. Check out the site categories (by designer) to see the rest of our choices. We have tried to choose so that each designers fabric has another fabric with a colour scheme that runs through, enabling you to mix them together to create panels in curtains, or ‘miss matching’ cushions that work well together. Or if you are a quilter I believe they will work for you. So be brave and mix and match! I know I’m not going to be able to resist using some of these fabrics so I’ll get some photo’s together of how I use my choice.

If there are other lines or designers you would like, please just let us know and we can get these for you. Also, if you would like to place a larger order and we don’t have the metres in stock we can order in enough quantity for you without too much delay.

We can also provide samples on request.

I hope you are pleased with our stock, please let us know.. Also, don’t forget to stop by again to see the stock that’s following and our most recent orders.

Take care and enjoy,

Lucy

Lucy Loves… Tartan is launched

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Hi Guys

We had a fantastic weekend at Lucy Loves Fabric. How were your weekends?? What did you get up to??…

We had a lovely Sunday morning mooching around Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane in East London. Have any of you visited this area before? Spitalfields has a fantastic market with lots of fashion students selling their clothes, other established designers, jewellery, bits for the home. It’s really worth a visit, you’ll come across lots of one off pieces! And we all love that don’t we…

On Sunday there is something called the ‘Sunday Up Market’ selling a lot of vintage clothes and massages and some wonderful food from all around the world. Yummy.

Sunday Up Market

Then you have Brick Lane where their famous Indian restaurants are also open for lunch. Along the street you have street sellers selling things that vary from week to week. There are a lot of art galleries in the area too that are well worth a visit.

We are quite a regular around this area on either a Saturday or Sunday, but if you haven’t been you have to go if you live in the London area or make sure you visit if you’re here on holidays or making a special visit.

Also visit Absolute Vintage… fantastic shop and you can’t miss it. All your vintage fashion NEEDS, and dont we need it….

Check out more information on the Spitalfields area here… http://www.visitspitalfields.com/index.html

Anyway we got chatting to a chap on one of the vintage stalls (I bought a wonderful fur coat….oooooh sumptuous….not real fur though I would like to clarify!) and as we were chatting I said what business I was in, and the lovely man then gave me a ‘trade discount’. We exchanged cards and he let me know another contact of a ‘cloth wholesaler’. Well that was enough to get my juices running and I convinced my lovely husband to go to this intriguing warehouse that apparently was open on a Sunday. After a few wrong turns we found it and as we walked into a huge warehouse FULL to the ceilings nearly of rolls of fabric!!!!! The word ‘cloth’ really didn’t do it justice. Out came a smiling man (Philip) from the office and after a lot of business chatter we happily stuck up a good business relationship that I am 100% sure will blossom and blossom. And this isn’t just exciting for us here at Lucy Loves Fabric it should be exciting for you guys too…………!!!………

Our new contact will be able to provide pretty much anything. Nothing vintage or antique…that is just OUR speciality. This is more if you want a colour scheme or you’re looking for a type of design, or suit material, tie material, cashmere, tweed…. TARTAN…. We have bought a couple of pieces of genuine Tartan, all the highest quality wool. Please don’t think of a picnic blanket when you think of Tartan, take a look at our pieces and let us know what you think. We can get hold of any you like, or if you would like one in a certain colour then let us know and we’ll get this for you. I will however be adding more of LLF choices soon so watch this space.

Check out our Tartan here: http://www.lucylovesfabric.com/shop/category/lucy-loves-tartan/

We love your feedback so please let me know what you think of Tartan, what you got up to at the weekend, and if there is anything you would like me to source from our lovely new contact.

Enjoy the Tartan!!

New Vintage Stock!! Come and see…

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hi Everyone

I hope you are enjoying this autumnal weather. Nice bright skies but its getting chilly hey. I do like autumn… those evenings tucked up under a blanket. Sad to see Summer pass but it’s not cold enough yet to be as dismal as winter, at the moment it’s still a novelty.

Anyway.. enough chatter. We have added some new stock to the website. The categories that we have added to are Tablecloths, Vintage antique and recycled along with Vintage inspired.

We hope you enjoy the new bits, after our first sales we thought it needed a top up.

I’m afraid at Lucy Loves Fabrics we aren’t the best of photographers, we are deeply sorry about this but I guess you can’t be good at everything and it’s something we aim to improve. If the photo’s aren’t good enough and you want to see more detail please contact us and we will try our best to provide this.

Would you like a little taste of the new bits??

You can find this under Lucy Loves… Tablecloths

Please also don’t forget that our Designer per metre fabric will be available by the end of September. We will let you know when this is online.

We always love to hear from you all, so if you have any news or anything you would like to share with us then please leave a comment or drop us an email.

We will be back in contact soon!

Take care,
