Wood and Wool 1

(Image: Wood and Wool)

Well what a busy week… with the new Studio project well underway and all the additional jobs that follow it, I feel exhausted.

I have got muddy. I have lifted REALLY heavy things. I have grafted with the boys AND I went to B&Q on my own…which anyone who knows me was a real achievement. ;-)

Now I’m just having a quick cup of tea whilst the Beau goes to get more supplies as we didn’t buy enough, I thought I would pop in and say hello to all you lovely people out there!

How are you?? Have you had good weeks?? And what are you up to this weekend?

It’s supposed to be a hot one in London, and so far the forecast has been correct! I’m loving working in a vest top, I just wish I was the type to tan rather than burn. Hmm.

Despite all of the work going on in the garden it’s actually looking really pretty, very colourful with all the Daff’s and Tulips. I also have some pots of Primroses. Lovely.

I’m really enjoying the knitted hearts shown above by Wood and Stool, I feel these would look pretty in my new studio, maybe hanging either side of the door. Welcoming huh? :)

To Meet My Past, Tracey Emin, 2002, The Saatchi Gallery, London

I managed to fit in fabulous trip to the Quilt exhibition at the V&A this week. I LOVED it, I cannot express how much. I’ll fill you in more next week when I’m less muddy and have more time… : ) so watch this space. Have any of you been yet? Did you love it too?

Have a lovely weekend my lovelies, I’m being called to deal with more sand. ‘It’ll be worth it’ I keep chanting.

Love you all.

Doesn’t this bed look beautiful? I am in love with the bed cover. You could create a similar one with our Amy Butler fabric…

YES I’ve finally seen it!!!! I loved it, as you probably have guessed. It’s magical like I hoped, but it DID lack the amount of eccentricity that I hoped for and expected. It was eccentric, totally – don’t get me wrong. The characters with their costumes and make up were amazing. I just expected…..more some how.

The 3D’ness gave me wobbly legs afterwards and on the drive home I half expected the flower by the side of my steering wheel in my little VW Beetle to talk to me. Needless to say…it didn’t. I found myself disappointed ;-)

I love being transformed out of reality.

Well what a beautiful day today, I have woken up with a spring in my stride. I’m having one of those very positive days today…. why do they come out of the blue like that? I tend to struggle during the period when winter is exchanging with spring… I just wish it would hurry up, as much as I love the seasons I’m desperate for some warmth and less wetness now. This weekend has been lovely weather, so maybe that is what has given me a boost.

I’m sitting in a chair that I call ‘my knitting chair’ in my front room, obviously I’m sitting with the laptop… the sun is pouring in the windows (including the little stained glass window the left hand side of our fireplace) and I have the window open. I’m naturally a cold person so I’m wrapped up in one of my many crochet blankets.

Sitting here with a cup of tea and ‘enjoying the moment’ I was thinking about you all and thought I would have a quick cheeky little chat with you before my day gets busy.

Did you all have nice weekends???

What did you get up to???

My weekend was lovely. A lot of organising was done, organising for the expansion of LLF. My husband is being very supportive and we’ll be getting moving on a few things in the next few weeks which I’m SO excited about and will be sharing with you all soon enough I promise.

I had to work yesterday, I had a few bits to get done that I hadn’t managed last week. This was fine though as the hubby was happy watching the Grand Prix and fixing something on his remote helicopter. The cat however wasn’t quite so content and insisted on chasing my ball of wool when I was doing some ‘maintenance’ on a crochet blanket that will be available on the website soon.

Soooo… anyone reading my last post or following me on Twitter knows that I’m off to take some photos today with my father-in-law who is rather more talented at photography than I am… (not hard I know!!).

So I had better get on… Enjoy the beginning of your week, if you are struggling with that ‘Monday Feeling’, try focusing on that blue sky….

Have a good weekend!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Enjoy your weekend everyone. I hope you have something fun planned.

I had a lovely day off today with my friend and her new baby. Although I promised myself I wouldn’t be online today, I can’t stay away from my little world of Lucy Loves Fabric. Something that happens when you love your job…

I am meeting friends for lunch tomorrow and will be chilling on Sunday… I have a list of research I want to get through before next week too.

Many regulars at Lucy Loves Fabric will know how poor my photography skills are. You’ll be pleased to know that I will be spending Monday with a family member who is far more skilled in the area than I am. So hopefully they’ll be some new goodies for you all on the site come the end of Monday…

Make sure you do something creative this weekend.

LOVE TO BE CREATIVE. WI – Old Harlow. A pleasure…

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Well today is Thursday and yesterday I met the most wonderful group of ladies. I was invited along to ‘The Members Day’ meeting of the Harlow Women’s Institute as their speaker. Some of you are aware that I recently passed an audition to be on the panel of speakers for the Women’s Institute. Something I’m rather proud of.. : )

After a very nervous rehearsal in my car outside the hall, I ventured in and was so pleasantly welcomed by a staggering 59 women. What a turnout!!

It was an honour to be a part of such an event, the members day meeting only happens once a year and it’s when a lady and a group of her pals volunteer to organise a meeting for one day a year, rather than the usual committee. I was rather concerned I was about to let the side down when I heard about this special event. Trust me to jump straight in to the deep end.

I had already met the organiser, Dianne who is lovely at one of my ‘Introducing Fabric into your home’ consultation. My ‘talk’ went well I felt, I learnt a lot from them and I hope they went home with a few ideas from me as my talk is called ‘LOVE TO BE CREATIVE’.

The thing that I love about the WI is that they are such an interesting bunch and are so skilled!! Someone like me, at the age of 26 can learn such a lot from them. The pleasing thing is they are so pleased and eager to share. I had such a wonderful time. We had a few giggles which is what I was aiming for. After my talk a lot of the ladies came to talk to me, so I was in my absolute element. A couple of the ladies will be coming to my knitting group too and I’m really looking forward to seeing them again.

The lovely ladies even sent me home with cakes for my husband AND a bunch of flowers!!

The meeting was finished with everyone singing ‘God save the queen’, a wonderful touch. : )

So how are we all?? Are you all having good weeks like I am? I’d be interested to know..

Tomorrow I am having the day off to visit one of my best friends who has just had a baby. So I’m very excited about that.

I’ll be back next week with some more chats and hopefully we can share some more inspiration as I’ve been a little quite with that. Sorry!!

Let me see if I can rustle up something…

I am loving this idea that I stumbled across at this blog a few weeks ago. I think i’m going to do this in my workroom…. inspiring huh!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone. And I guess as I won’t be here tomorrow….. ‘HAVE A WEEKEND’

Enjoy your weekend!

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I’ve been a bit quite in fabric blog world this week. I’m sorry. I hope you have all had good weeks, we at LLF have.. it’s been busy which is what we like.

I go to an auction every other Wednesday, I can be lucky there with furniture to re-upholster. Or vintage linen and curtains. This week was the best week ever… look what I won… I love her, I’m calling her Florence as I name my sewing machines you see. My day-to-day sewing machine is called Bob.

IMG00237-20100305-1650

Isn’t she beautiful. One day she will sit in my shop, but for now she’ll sit in my workroom looking glorious. She works too!! I will love her forever.

Speaking of sewing machines Bob and I have been busy with LOTS of cushion orders this week. Everyone perking up their sofa’s for Spring me thinks. It certainly feels like Spring is on the way now that we have had a little sunshine.

I plan to soak up some vitamin D this weekend.

What do you have planned?

I have an idea of embroidering a lampshade. Sounds different huh? If I do manage to claw the time to do this I’ll take some photos for you and show you next week. I also have a spa day booked with friends on Sunday… we are all very excited about that. I love pampering, I have a thing about scents… I am currently in love with the fragrance of Bergamot. I have a facial and massage booked and after this busy week I feel I deserve it. : )

I hope you all have a lovely, creative sun filled weekend.

See you Monday!
